Keeping with the trend of bringing in the old with the new, richer woods tones are reappearing in design. We will see tones of walnuts and hickory in flooring, cabinetry and furnishings. These tones are TIMELESS!
We are seeing designers veer away from light, white tone woods. Now... before you freak out... we love the light woods too. We have leaned heavily into this trend in furnishing our remodels and new construction homes. You don't need to purge just yet.
To achieve this design trend in a newly updated or furnished home... MIX in richer tones of wood WITH your existing light flooring or furnishings. See in the example of the kitchen that the deep tones of the cabinetry are contrasted with light wood accents in boards and accessories.
We also love the Living Room from Ballard Design as an example of mixing tones and styles. And if you have been following along, remember our first design email? Notice the blush accents being used as a neutral.
